Intro Post: How I plan to get my WLE: Oct 26th
I am looking for an internship that I think would really interest me instead of just getting one because we had to. I want that is going to be fun and I enjoy going to. So far I called a couple skate shops to see if they do internships but they don't. I recently just found out that my mom knows somebody that works at EA so I'm going to try and give them a call and see what happens. A leadership skill I could use to help find an internship is solve problems resourcefully. I might have to settle for an internship instead of getting what i really want.
2nd Week: Still don’t have an internship
Since I still don’t have an internship I went to school instead of going to an internship. I didn’t go to WLE because I didn’t have one. I spent the day at school calling places to see if I could find one. I ended up finding an intern that day at Noble Veterinary Clinic. I had decided to try and work at a place that handled animals. I researched every place in Hayward, vets, animal housing, and planned to call them all. Most of the places I had to leave messages and wait for calls back. After about 5 disappointing attempts I found Noble and they hired me. They said I could start the next Friday from 4-7pm to get to know me.
3rd Week: Found an Internship
My workplace serves animals since it’s a veterinary clinic. The strengths of my intern is that they save animals that are hurting or need serious help. They do surgery’s and spay and neuter animals also. The weaknesses of the place is that it’s a really small. Sometimes you kind of bump into each other when your trying to do something or you have to wait for someone to pass you before you start walking down a certain part of the building. This was my first day here and they showed me how things worked in the office. They had me clean animal cages, fold towels, sweep and mop. I also made sure their inventory was stocked. They had cats, dogs and exotic animals that day. They had a parrot there that actually talked and he kept saying Hello to me. Next time I come in they want me to wear scrubs.
4th Week: 2nd Day on the Job
This is my 2nd time at this internship. I didn’t have my scrubs yet so I wore clothes I didn’t’ mind getting a little dirty in. When I got there I was pretty much sitting in the break room for about 40 minutes because my mentor didn’t give me any assignments yet and no cages needed cleaning. My mentor’s name is Crystal. Shes very nice and she always answers all my questions. I cleaned the office as usual that day. When I clean they make me use a lot of lemon disinfectant. They had a little kitten in that day that was infected with something and he cried a lot. The parrot was still there, I think he’s just there for the fun of it. They had a ginormous dog there too that was leaking blood. He had a tube in his neck draining something and he could barely walk.
5th week: 3rd Day on the Job
Today when I went to my internship I had my scrubs on. My mentor complimented my scrubs and said she likes the color of them. They are blue. I had to hold one of the dogs on the leash while someone else cleaned the dogs butt. That was pretty much all the handling I've had to do with any of the animals for the rest of the day. The rest of the day was simple all I did was sweep, mop, restock the rooms, and cleaned the cages.

Today was a very busy day at the vet. I got to actually handle a lot of pets by holding them down to get shots. There was a good looking pit bull who was very energetic and I wanted him a lot. There were also lots of small dogs I had to hold to make them feel better. While some of the employees were trying to get one dogs inside so they could go to surgery on him he was throwing up and pooping A LOT and it was regular dog poop it was like water. It was one of the nastiest things I've ever seen an animal do. At the end of the day I just swept and mopped the floors but I didn't have to clean up after that dog so don't worry.

I don't really remember going to my internship this. Since I don't remember I'm guessing really nothing happened. I probably just helped out a little and cleaned up at the end of the day.
Suppose to be my last day at my WLE
So today was suppose to be my last day at my WLE but since I'm behind in hours I have to keep going for a while longer. Today wasn't a real busy day. I did go through all the medicine and label the expiration dates on everything and throw out the ones that were already expired. It's not a difficult task but there was a lot of medicine to go through and label so it kind of wore me out. After I was done with that I just swept and mopped because it was about that time to close up and get ready to go. I walked home and went straight to sleep from a hard days work.
